How to Choose the Right Toothbrush and Toothpaste for Your Oral Health Needs?

We often hear about brushing our teeth twice a day to keep them healthy. However, having the right tools are essential to getting the job done right. However, with the wide range & variety of brushes and toothpaste available in the market, it is quite difficult to choose the right one.

Here are some tips to help you choose the right toothbrush for your oral health needs.

Tooth brushes are categorically organized & clearly labeled according to their size and shape. Select a toothbrush that feels comfortable in your hand and has a head that can easily reach all areas of your mouth, including the back teeth.

Dentists usually recommend toothbrushes with multi-level or flat surfaces. These help in removing food particles and plaque more effectively than their counterparts.

Secondly, it is recommended to choose a toothbrush with soft or extra-soft bristles to avoid damaging your gums and tooth enamel. Hard bristles can cause tooth sensitivity and even receding gums.

With the advancement in technology, consumers have recently started using electric brushes. Available in multiple color options, electric toothbrushes are a great way to instill the habit of regular brushing in kids.  For adults too, electric toothbrushes can be more efficient in removing plaque and reducing gum inflammation. They can also be helpful for people with limited mobility or dexterity.

However, the manual brushes are equally effective provided you know the right technique. Hence, it is advisable to consult your oral hygienist to learn how to brush your teeth effectively.

For selecting the toothpaste you should look for the following:

Look for toothpaste that contains fluoride. Fluoride forms a protective layer which helps in strengthening tooth enamel and preventing cavities.

Next, make sure that the toothpaste in your grocery basket is  specifically designed to control tartar. Tartar is a hardened plaque that irritates gum tissues.

If you want to whiten your teeth, look for toothpaste that contains hydrogen peroxide or other whitening agents. However, be careful not to use these products too frequently as they can damage tooth enamel over time.

We would advise you to consult a general dentist on your next visit to help you choose a brush and paste. For more information or to schedule an appointment with Dental 360 Clinics, request an appointment in one of our dental offices here: https://dental360usa.com Or call us at (877) 786-0360.
